FiberwerX Racing’s New Trophy Truck Scores an Overall Win, Now Shaping Big Plans for 2015
December 19th, 2014
December 19, 2014 (El Cajon, CA) – Jason McNeil and the FiberwerX Team are feeling confident after McNeil and his new center drive, three seat Trophy Truck earned the overall win at the RECORD Race Ready 250. This latest victory marks his second overall win in 2014 with RECORD. Earlier in the year, FiberwerX won the Ensenada / San Felipe 250 in June which runs a similar course as the Race Ready 250.
The most significant difference was a cold 50 degree chill, and a wet winter storm that sent pouring rain showers all over the course leaving large puddles for the competitors to deal with. A Police escort would lead the parade of race cars out of Ensenada to Kilometer 80 (Race Mile 13), where the race was re-routed to start, due to the storm. For Jason, the first vehicle off the line at 9:10 AM, it was no sweat as his truck easily flew over the water obstacles.
McNeil had a flawless run down the 250 miles and into San Felipe. At Race Mile 110, a quick 1 minute pit stop included swapping 1 co-driver and 1 navigator for two more riders to get some seat time. Topped off with 90 gallons of fuel, McNeil was ready to open it up across the desert floor and see what the new truck was capable of.
Arriving at the finish line under the famed San Felipe arches at 12:55 PM, for a total time of 03:46:57 on the course, meant Jason averaged 62.97 MPH over the 250 miles. The second place finisher, also in a truck built by FiberwerX, arrived approximately 10 minutes later. There were nine other vehicles entered in the Unlimited Class and a total of 244 entered in the race. With the two overall wins and after only racing in these two events all season, Jason McNeil finished 3rd overall in the 2014 RECORD Unlimited Class Points.
Thanks to Attain Media for editing this quick little video. One of our FiberwerX Crew members attempted to match the pace of the truck driving along side of Highway 3.
Jason commented on his thrilling victory. “Everything could not have gone any better for us. This truck is incredible and I am very pleased with the dynamic performance. The Fox Racing Shocks are absolutely dialed thanks to some test and tuning help from Todd Tenbroek. Todd has been a friend and instrumental to my program for years. We had zero down time, no mechanical failures, and no flats. These 40” Nitto Tires are the real deal and gave us incredible traction in the mud, climbing over rocks, and ripping through the sand. I am so confident with the Nitto Tire package, we could have easily gone on for another 250 miles at this same pace and the tires would have been just fine.”
“We even contemplated hauling up to Laughlin for day two of the Rage event on Sunday, but decided against that,” McNeil concluded. “I was able to run a fast yet very conservative pace in order to put my crew and the truck through some race conditional trials. We achieved our objectives and have some great data to go home with. I have dreamed for a very long time about building a top tier trophy truck and this is now finally coming to fruition.”
Jason has been working very hard to upgrade the race program. He and his network of supporters have literally invested years into preparing quality equipment where he can effectively compete against the elite in off road desert racing. The new #17 FiberwerX Trophy Truck is a unique one of a kind machine that was recently seen in the April 2014 Dirt Sport’s iconic “Master Piece in Metal” feature. A new meticulous luxury prerunner machine was added to the stable and was a big hit during the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Two new chase trucks complete the fleet, one of which is a sparkling 2014 Platinum Series F-250 that has been customized as a six door super truck and was seen in Nitto Tires booth at SEMA.
FiberwerX is now shaping plans to compete at the top level in some of the most prestigious events in desert racing. The tentative 2015 event schedule includes BITD Parker 425, BITD Mint 400, SNORE Battle At Primm, SCORE Baja 500, and the SCORE Baja 1000.
Jason McNeil is well aware of the daunting challenge that he has committed to. Preparation, precision and performance will be the keys to the FiberwerX Racing Team realizing accomplishment. In today’s competitive desert racing environment, even the seasoned veterans are pooling resources and investing more resources than ever to come out on top. Only the best of the best can claim the victory and that is only if the stars align and everything goes perfectly.
